Top Five Kitchen Styling Tips

Our favourite styling tips and tricks to consider when putting the finishing touches on your newly refurbished kitchen.

1. Add Some Greenery

Bring some colour and life into your kitchen with some vegetation. Whether this is a vase with fresh flowers, used as a centre piece on the bench top, or fresh herbs in decorative pots – there are so many options to consider. Plants in vases or jugs can really inject some colour in the room as well as helping to purify the air. One of our favourite when it comes to adding some greenery is potted plants on kitchen counter tops which brings a lot of vibrancy and makes your counter tops come to life!

2. Consider The Functionality

We all love a statement vase or bowl but if not careful, these things can quickly over-run a kitchen making the space feel too busy and cluttered, so when styling, you want to look for pieces that are as useful as they are beautiful. One of our favourites is a canister with utensils super functional, and a space saver in your drawers, we love a canister or jug with utensils next to the stone. Ensure to keep the look stylish by sticking to uniform utensils such as only timber or stainless steel and avoid mismatched or brightly coloured plastic utensils. Display this canister on its own or mix it up with your layered look of chopping and serving boards.

3. Backsplash

Consider the kitchen splash back as a kitchen styling element. Back splashes, while there for functionality can also be an important styling statement. Keep up to date with current trends and consider all options to really find what works best in your space to showcase your kitchen and home.

4. Show your personality

There’s nothing better than walking into someone’s home and getting a sense of who lives there. I’m not talking about family photos all over the walls, although thats also really great when done right, but you do need to inject your own personality into the rooms. Culinary books can give a good idea about your into on the culinary front – are you into baking, health foods or Asian inspired cuisine? Show off your interests through your decor. Other little quirky pieces that can be conversation starters and show off some of your story might be things you’ve picked up on travels, or found at the op-shop that really grabbed you! Don’t be scared to experiment.

5. Pretty Dish Towels

Indulge in pretty dish towels. Nothing finishes off the kitchen styling quite like a pretty hand towel with a fringe. Kitchens often have hard cold surfaces and a pretty soft dish towel can add a soft whimsical touch. Spoil yourself with a few different ones so there is always a fresh one available and always a little change in the final look.
