Preparing For Your Kitchen Refurbishment

Some simple tips to help you prepare your areas and yourselves for the refurbishment process

It’s nearly time

So it’s nearly time for us to attend for your refurbishment project! I hope you’re feeling just as excited as we are to see the finished result. We will endeavor to make this as quick and easy for you as possible with as little disruption to you and your family as we can. In order to assist us in this process, there’s a few things we need you to do prior to our arrival on site, and to be aware of, while we are working on site.

Getting your area ready

Preparing Cabinetry

To prepare your kitchen or bathroom for the cabinetry refacing works, its required that all of your drawers and cabinets are fully emptied and all items from these drawers and cabinets are moved to a separate area, away from where we will be working. This includes the pantry. Everything out! We work in tight space having to get ourselves and our hand tools in at awkward angles, so any items left behind are always at risk of getting damaged and dirty from the dust and debris created during drilling etc.

Preparing Bench tops

Even if we are not replacing or doing any work to your bench tops, we do require that the bench top is fully cleared prior to our arrival. Again, we are using tooling and materials in this area and would hate for anything to be bumped, knocked or scratched during our process . If you are having the bench top replaced, please ensure you have arranged for your sink to be removed and stove top disconnected and removed, prior to us arriving on site for the works.

Remove Other Items

All appliances need to be unplugged and removed from the area as well, this includes but is not limited to, the fridge, kettle, toaster, microwave etc. Any bar stools that are up against the cabinetry near a breakfast bench will need to be removed from the area. Any dogs food and water bowls need to be removed from the area.

Getting Set for your Kitchen Refurbishment

Temporary Set Up

As mentioned before, we will endeavour to make this process minimally disruptive to your lives as possible but it is a reality that you will be without the use of your kitchen for a couple of days. We recommend setting up a temporary “camping style” set up in a separate room, dining or lounge room, that has your fridge, microwave, kettle, a few cups, plates and essential every day items. This way you’re still able to make yourself those much needed coffees and warm up last nights pizza. The slight discomfort for a few days is going to be so worth it!

Vehicle Access

We will arrive on site with a ute and work trailer. We request access is allowed at the nearest entry point to the kitchen. Please decide where the ute and trailer can be parked to allow easy and quick access to the trailer, to access tools and materials, throughout each work day. If there are any special access requirements or restrictions on parking areas – especially in unit blocks or estates, please advise us of this in advance so any necessary plans can be made.

Safety First

We understand a new face in the home and lot of new noises and tools, can be very exciting for little children and while we would love to spend all day playing with your children, it’s not a safe space for them to be playing while we work. There are going to be tools, heavy materials, screws, blades, all sorts of accidents waiting to happen, if little ones start playing around in the work area. We therefore respectfully ask that all children are kept out of the area for the duration of the works. The same request for pets – as much as we would love to pet and cuddle them, the safety of you and your family is our priority.
